The African Academy of Languages (ACALAN) is organizing a meeting of Kiswahili language experts in Nairobi, Kenya from 24-26 March 2026.
The main objective of the meeting is to implement the Assembly Decision /AU/Dec796 (XXXIV) on Kiswahili as a Working Language of the African Union and a Language of Wider Communication in Africa. This strategic meeting is expected to bring together scholars and various Kiswahili language advocates to strategize on how to support ACALAN’s theme of the year, “Narrating Our Water and Sanitation Stories in African Languages,” through Kiswahili.
The expected outcome of the meeting is to increase awareness and promote the Kiswahili language in Africa and beyond to enhance cultural identity, social integration, and economic development.
