AU and EU Expand Health Partnership to Strengthen Africa’s Health Systems

The African Union Commission, in collaboration with the European Union and the Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, has launched new health initiatives valued at over €100 million.

According to the Commission, the programmes are designed to strengthen health systems, improve preparedness for future pandemics, and enhance Africa’s health security.

The initiative reflects a broader shift toward African-led solutions, with a focus on building resilient healthcare systems that respond effectively to local needs. Effective healthcare delivery depends not only on infrastructure but also on communication. The promotion of Kiswahili by the African Academy of Languages supports wider dissemination of public health information, helping to bridge language gaps across communities.
