The governance

The supreme organ of ACALAN is the AU Conference of Ministers of Culture or Specialized Technical Committee on Youth, Culture and Sport (STC-YCS). ACALAN operates through National Language Structures and Vehicular Cross-border Language Commissions.

Working Structures

ACALAN’s working structures include:

  • The National Language Structures (NLS): one in each AU Member State
  • The Vehicular Cross-border Language Commissions: one for each vehicular cross-border language.

Our Resources

ACALAN’s resources come from voluntary contributions from Member States, subventions from the AU, services, product sales and donations.

According to Article 26 of its statutes, the resources of ACALAN shall be obtained from:

  • Voluntary contributions from Member States
  • The services of ACALAN
  • The sale of products of ACALAN
  • Subventions from the AU and other organizations
  • Donations and legacies approved by the Board
  • Resources established on an exceptional basis
